RED BANK – Borough officials have approved a new financial agreement with the developer of the Locust Landing apartment complex that will enable the borough to claim up to 40 credits toward its fourth-round affordable housing obligation.

RED BANK – A residential development at the northeast corner of West Front Street and Maple Avenue is finally taking shape after six years of delays.

To paraphrase the Roman philosopher Seneca, “Luck is where opportunity meets preparation,” a maxim on display at the most recent Atlantic Highlands Planning Board meeting Aug. 1. During the last 30 minutes of the meeting, representatives from Carton Brewing presented an informal proposal suggesting a partial repurposing of the company’s brewery building at 120 First Ave.

Kushner Companies broke ground on its 360-unit residential rental community, Livana Square, previously Colts Neck Manor, after winning a critical state permit that held up the development’s progress for years.

Ending the year with a packed agenda, the borough council made progress on transit village plans and improvements to Count Basie Park and approved two developments coming up on the east side of the borough.

Regardless of community concern, an eight-story hotel and 388- unit age-restricted development may eventually loom over Monmouth Park.

A four-story, 45-unit apartment plan for 121 Monmouth St. won variance approvals from the borough’s zoning board members at the Nov. 3 meeting.

Would 50 new apartments in a five-story building on Globe Court serve as a detriment to the character of adjacent historic structures and districts?
