RED BANK – Longtime borough resident and public figure Suzanne Viscomi was removed from her position as a trustee of the Red Bank Public Library by the mayor after an investigation into an alleged inappropriate comment she made during a conversation with former library director Eleni Glykis. Viscomi has denied she made the comment, relating to a person’s deportation, but Mayor Billy Portman chose to remove her from the volunteer position at the library after an invesitgation.

RED BANK – The borough council approved the train station redevelopment plan last Thursday, advancing the pre-pandemic goals of transit-oriented housing consistent with the borough’s Master Plan.

TINTON FALLS – Borough officials presented a 2025 municipal budget of just over $31 million that decreases the municipal tax rate by 2.12% while preserving the services residents have come to expect.

In this year’s municipal election, four candidates are vying for two council seats. Two Republicans are running for reelection to fulfill long-term projects and address new matters, while two Democrats look to bring new voices, transparency and political balance to the dais.

Borough officials are looking to fasttrack solutions to frequent issues with algae in McCarter Pond as a thick green blanket of organic matter spreads across the water.
