A section of Fort Monmouth currently undergoing redevelopment, where the new Birdsmouth Beer brewery will soon open, has qualified as an Area in Need of Redevelopment.

The first business to operate in Fort Monmouth’s former Commissary building, a brewery co-founded by the former head brewer for the Kane Brewing Company of Ocean Township, is expected to open “late summer or early fall” according to Denholtz Properties, the building’s owner. 

One year after The Two River Times exclusively reported Netflix Studios hopes to build a production facility on Fort Monmouth, the company’s bid proposal for the Mega Parcel is one of four winding through a lengthier-than-usual evaluation process.

On Tuesday, officials of the Monmouth Medical Center (MMC), an RWJBarnabas Health (RWJBH) facility, announced plans to begin construction of its newest health care facility, the Vogel Medical Campus, in early 2023, pending all necessary approvals.

Two local residents poised to transform a prime 12-acre portion of the former Fort Monmouth are actively seeking tenants for their waterfront mixed-use development on Parker’s Creek.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. June 6, bid proposals to redevelop over 290 acres – most of the remaining unsold property on the former Fort Monmouth known as the Mega Parcel – will be opened by staff of the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA). While the names of the bidding entities will be made public, little else will be known about what those proposals contain for months.

At the first in-person meeting of the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) in 26 months, the chairman’s seat was left vacant in honor of the late Robert Lucky of Fair Haven, who passed away March 10 at 86 while serving in that role.

The governing bodies of Eatontown, Oceanport and Tinton Falls have 45 days to review and comment on an amendment to the developer’s plan for setbacks for the redevelopment project at the fort’s former Nurses Quarters along Main Street. 

A pioneer in technology and engineering, Robert W. "Bob" Lucky garnered myriad international recognitions and awards over six decades, including the coveted Marconi Prize. He was instrumental in the development of a plan for the former Fort Monmouth. Lucky died March 10, 2022 at age 86.
