A new county park and a public safety use for an empty firehouse, both in Tinton Falls, advanced at the April 17 meeting of the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA).

It is reassuring to see that not only are a good number of new restaurants opening in the Two River area but also that the incredible piece of property once home to Fort Monmouth is being repurposed in inventive ways.

FORT MONMOUTH – Shortly after 5 p.m. Feb. 21, members of the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) unanimously voted to approve revised plans for Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth, a major production studio on 292-plus acres of the former U.S. Army base. 

A developer’s efforts to revive the former Fort Monmouth Commissary’s food-centric legacy in a new incarnation has been recognized with the 2024 Urban Land Institute of Northern New Jersey (ULI NNJ) Excellence Award for Entertainment/ Hospitality.

Monmouth County has stepped up to resolve the emergency medical service (EMS) crisis triggered by a critical shortage of volunteers. The county launched its own EMS hub called MedStar, located at the Charles Wood Fire Station on the borough’s former Fort Monmouth grounds, to assist surrounding agencies in need of emergency medical services.

The borough hall was packed for Oceanport’s reorganization meeting as officials were sworn in, honors were doled out, and a new mayor took his seat on the dais.
