PISCATAWAY – It wasn’t going to be easy. Rumson-Fair Haven experienced heartbreak at SHI Stadium on the campus of Rutgers University in the Group 2 state championship game before. But in 2024, the Bulldogs flipped the script and captured the school’s first outright state title, one that had eluded them the past two years.

FAIR HAVEN – Kate Fahey cemented her legacy as a tennis legend by winning a New Jersey state singles championship at Rumson-Fair Haven, followed by an All-American career at the University of Michigan, where she is the Maize and Blue’s all-time wins leader on the court and a two-time Big Ten women’s tennis player of the year.

Championships are a constant at Rumson-Fair Haven so it was only fitting that the newest sport on the high school scene follows the tradition of filling up the trophy case in the halls of RFH. The Bulldogs flag football team won the Shore Conference championship for a second straight year with a 37-18 win over Neptune.

RED BANK – Red Bank Catholic and Rumson-Fair Haven both reached the state championship game in 2023 and the intensity carried over to the first game of the 2024 season.

RUMSON – For 10 straight years, Rumson-Fair Haven has made it to a sectional final. And for the second straight year, the already filled-up trophy case needs to make some room.

The Shore Conference is bringing a new look to its soccer tournament – inspired by the World Cup format – that will give new emphasis to the regular season.

A successful season on the diamond for local teams extended into the summer as 16 players from The Two River Times area were part of the Jersey Shore All-Stars team that won the Philadelphia Phillies Carpenter Cup. The Major League Baseball franchise puts on an annual event featuring 16 teams of high school all-stars from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Reaching the Central Jersey Group 3 championship game for a second straight year is special for Middletown North. Beating your archrival to get there made it extra special.

In the midst of a chaotic and magical fourth quarter that will be talked about for years in Rumson, first year head coach Jeremy Schulte said what everyone on the sideline was thinking, “How can you not love high school football?”

Every championship team has a compelling story but the Red Bank Catholic 2021 football state champs has a tale of inspiration that will last for many years.
