LAKEWOOD – There was a time when Christian Brothers Academy was on the bubble to make the 24-team Shore Conference field.

Shore Conference Tournaments for five sports have been seeded and will offer plenty of excitement over the next two weeks.

RUMSON – Rumson-Fair Haven is the defending Shore Conference girls lacrosse champion and a defending state champion.

MIDDLETOWN – Madison McDougall set quite a high bar for her high school softball career: two state championships, over 700 strikeouts with an ERA under 1.00, along with a .474 career batting average.

MANASQUAN – The gym at Manasquan was electric with two passionate student sections, the stakes were as high as they come in Shore Conference basketball, and Rumson-Fair Haven had a score to settle.

WEST LONG BRANCH – The top-seeded Christian Brothers Academy Colts left no doubt in front of a capacity crowd at Monmouth University, delivering a commanding 58-37 victory over second-seeded Red Bank Catholic to win their first Shore Conference Tournament boys basketball championship since 2010.

With the Shore Conference basketball tournament wrapping up on Friday at Monmouth University, the focus will quickly shift to the winter state playoffs. The brackets are out in boys basketball, girls basketball and hockey. Best of luck to all our local teams as they chase a state championship.

RED BANK – Addy Nyemchek has been highly regarded throughout her high school career at Red Bank Catholic within the borders of New Jersey. Now, she’s getting her flowers as one of the best players in the country.

LAKEWOOD – Six wrestlers from The Two River Times area claimed Shore Conference Tournament championships Saturday, Jan. 24, at Lakewood High School, highlighted by repeat winners and three first-time champions.
