Netflix has completed a key initial phase in purchasing almost 300 acres of Fort Monmouth known as the Mega Parcel for its new film production studio. The next step – Netflix’s presentation of its Reuse Plan to the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) – is imminent, officials said.

The state cleared up confusion about last year’s general election in a recent report, noting a software error was to blame for incorrect vote counts. The report discloses why in four Monmouth County municipalities, some votes were counted twice.

The United States Army Chaplain Corps celebrates its 284th birthday July 29. Today, the Chaplain Corps is headquartered on Fort Jackson, South Carolina. However, the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School – the only training center for the Army’s clergy – could once be found right here in Monmouth County. It operated out of Fort Monmouth from 1979- 1995, in a building named for a New Jersey hero killed during the Vietnam War.

At a recent borough council meeting, the governing body introduced two ordinances that would appropriate more than $7 million for park and road upgrades.

Next month New Jersey will become the first state in the nation to use scientific “predictive precipitation modeling” for future developments, hopefully reducing flooding in some inland areas.
