TINTON FALLS – Mayor Gerald M. Turning was on hand Wednesday, Sept. 10, to dedicate an expansion of The Chelsea at Tinton Falls senior living community, located at 1 Hartford Drive.
The Chelsea, an assisted-living residence for 70 senior citizens, recently expanded its Country Cottage, almost doubling the capacity. The Country Cottage is a secure portion of the building that provides 24-hour support for residents with Alzheimer’s and other memory impairments.
“There’s a growing need for this service,” said Dawn Shourt, executive director of The Chelsea. “Until more effective treatments, or even a cure, is found for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, families will continue to search for housing options that give them peace of mind and their loved ones security.”
Turning helped Shourt cut the ribbon on the expanded cottage as residents and staff looked on.
“My thanks to our incredible staff for making the expansion possible and for the dedication they show our residents every day,” Shourt said.
