Scott Theodore Greenwald of West Long Branch passed away peacefully at home July 3, 2024, after a brief illness.
Scott was born Oct. 17, 1953, in Ridgewood, New York, to Louis and Joyce MacNair Greenwald. Raised by Joyce and Frederick Greenwald, he grew up in New York and later Old Bridge. Scott served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1976, based at the U.S. Naval Training Center in Morocco and on the USS Saratoga. Upon completion of service, he received a Bachelor of Arts from Jersey City State University in 1981. During college, he met his best friend and loving wife Kathleen. They were married July 28, 1984, and moved to the Jersey Shore shortly after.
Scott was very fortunate to have his wonderful family: his son Dr. Andrew Greenwald and his wife Allyson and their daughter Penelope Skye, and daughter Lauren Lehman and her husband Christopher. He was expecting two more grandchildren in the coming months. Scott is also survived by his siblings, Walter Greenwald, Marion Barnett (Gene), Nancy Hasty (Marvin), Jane Marino (Sal), Alyson Woll (Rich), and in-laws James and Irene Bradley. He also leaves behind many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Scott was predeceased by his parents, his grandparents and his sister-in-law Donna Greenwald.
Scott spent his career as a location photographer. He served for a number of years as an elder for the First Presbyterian Church of Rumson. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, camping, and traveling out West and to Maine. He was a fan of the New York Mets, Jets, and Donovan’s Reef.
Visitation was held July 7 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A funeral service was held July 8 at the First Presbyterian Church of Rumson. Burial was private. A link to view the funeral service can be found at rumsonpresbyterian.org.
