Judging for the Biggest Tomato Contest will take place 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30. There will be judging for two groups, adults and kids, ages 5 to 13.
The contest is free. Contest rules require that the tomato must be presented by the grower. The winning tomato will be judged by weight only. Pre-registration is required by emailing full name and phone number to sicklesmarket@sicklesmarket.com.
The book signing by Moon will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
“Legendary Locals” celebrates Red Bankers present and past who invested their skills, talents and aspirations in building a community. The book is an illustration of how area residents are all connected and who individual lives – from generation to generation – create a community that becomes both a haven and a launching pad for those who are proud to call it home.
The Sickles family is among the local legends. Books will be available for sale. Moon, the former managing editor of The Two River Times, has written about Red Bank and the larger world for more than 30 years as a reporter, feature writer and editor for numerous magazines and newspapers.
She resides in Atlantic Highlands.
