FAIR HAVEN – The Fair Haven Firemen’s Fair is the town’s last hurrah before the school routine starts again. Scores of volunteers staff the event, held Aug. 23 through Aug. 31 starting at 6 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Fair Haven Fire Department. Wednesday is family night with live music by John Amabile. The seafood restaurant is always a draw, with homemade clam chowder and steamed clams. Proceeds from the fair, 50/50 and raffles help support the 115-year-old department, which responds to over 600 calls a year and always welcomes new recruits.
