This summer WindMill Hot Dogs is making the hot dog more than just a summer treat.
The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties is joining forces with Sabrett and WindMill Hot Dogs to raise money to provide food for those in need. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, for every $5 dollars donated to the FoodBank, Sabrett and WindMill will donate a hot dog to the FoodBank.
A $5 donation can help the FoodBank deliver 15 meals to families in need. The hope is to raise $50,000 to provide 150,000 meals and distribute 10,000 hot dogs.
The donations are greatly needed with 1 out of 10 people in Monmouth and Ocean counties receiving emergency food from the FoodBank. Out of the 127,000 people served by the FoodBank, 51,000 are children.
The FoodBank refers to the summer as the season of hunger because children do not receive the food they normally would during the school year.
WindMill Hot Dogs locations are: 856 Route 70, Brick; 1201 River Road, Belmar; 3338 Highway 9 south, Freehold; 200 Ocean Ave. north, North Long Branch; 18 S. Main St., Ocean Grove; 22 Bridge Ave., Red Bank; and 586 Ocean Blvd., West End in Long Branch.
