Our Lady of Perpetual Help/St. Agnes Pastor Re-Assigned

HIGHLANDS – The Rev. William Lago, pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help/St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, announced at all masses that he is being re-assigned to another parish on July 1.
Lago, who has been serving at both the Highlands and Atlantic Highlands churches for two years, said the Bishop David O’Connell will be making an announcement this week of all the clerical changes to take place in July, after new priests are ordained. He did not name the priest who will be replacing him as pastor here.
During his brief tenure, Lago oversaw the consolidation of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Agnes, as two separate parishes, merged into one. He said that now that the merger is complete, he has more work that has to be done within the next three months, after which the new pastor will be able to continue his service to the people of both communities.
Lago will assume duties as pastor of St. Denis in Manasquan in July, ironically the same parish where the Rev. Michael Lynch, who also served at both the Bayshore churches, is currently serving.
