Pound the Pavement for Pancreatic Cancer Nov. 1

NEPTUNE – The inaugural Pound the Pavement for Purple 5K Run/2-Mile Walk will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Veterans Memorial Park at 703 Corlies Ave.
Pancreatic cancer is currently the deadliest cancer in our nation, responsible for more than 39,000 deaths each year, and is currently rated as the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States. In 2014, an estimated 46,420 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the United States and 39,590 people – 20,170 men and 19,420 women – will die of the disease.
Proceeds from this Pancreatic Cancer Run/Walk will benefit the Lustgarten Foundation. To date, Lustgarten has provided more than $90 million in pancreatic cancer research support. It also provides in-depth information to patients and their families.
Pre-registration is available online until Tuesday, Oct. 28, and by mail until Thursday, Oct. 30. Participants may also register the day of the run/walk, beginning at 8:30 a.m., at Veterans Memorial Park.
