James M. Rathburn, 67, of Atlantic Highlands, died on Monday, July 18 in Long Branch. He was born in Orange and lived in Atlantic Highlands for most of his life. James worked as a printer and darkroom man for many years for the Advisor Newspaper in Middletown, after which he became a self-employed carpenter in the Atlantic Highlands and Middletown area. He was a member of the Highlands Rod and Gun Club and American Legion Post 143.
James was predeceased by his wife, Colleen Rathburn; a daughter, Colleen Rathburn; a brother, Alan Rathburn; and his father, James A. Rathburn.
Surviving are his son, James Rathburn of Atlantic Highlands; his mother, Florence Rathburn of Hazlet; his brother, Scott and his wife Alyce Rathburn of Leonardo; three sisters, Gail Sutton of Atlantic Highlands, Linda and her husband George Whitehead of Deleware and Susan Lane of Pennsylvania; and his granddaughter, Stormi Hill.
