RUMSON – Rumson-Fair Haven has two Shore Conference lacrosse championships and both teams are still in the hunt for state titles. The RFH boys and girls lacrosse teams reached the section semifinal after an impressive effort last Saturday at Two River Times Field and Borden Stadium.

The RFH girls raced out to a 12-1 halftime lead on the way to a 14-7 win over Haddon Township. Kat O’Conor had four goals and two assists to lead the scoring attack for coach Amy O’Keefe’s team. Rachel James scored two goals to give her 55 for the season and 245 for her career.

RFH will host Shore Regional June 5, the third meeting between the two teams. Rumson-Fair Haven is currently on a nine-game win streak. The last loss came to Shore Regional April 29 when the Blue Devils pulled off a 13-9 shocker. RFH avenged that loss with a 9-7 win in the Shore Conference semifinals on the way to its title. The Bulldogs are 16-4 on the season.

The RFH boys also topped Haddonfield with an 11-2 win. Joseph Whitehouse broke a 2-2 tie with back-to-back goals and Rumson never looked back. Junior Luke Lydon scored a hat trick to give him 50 goals for the season.

Coach Marc Moreau’s team has a 15-8 record and plays host to Glen Ridge June 5, looking for a spot in the South Jersey Group 1 final.
