BELFORD – The Middletown Recreation Department and NY Waterway held round-trip ferry service Saturday, Dec. 7 to the Statue of Liberty featuring some very important guests. Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with a few of their friends, visited with and entertained children and their families during the 90-minute ride. One character juggled and balanced plates, a mad scientist roamed around performing various fun experiments, and Disney Pixar’s “Toy Story” characters Woody and Jessie and “Frozen” characters Anna and Elsa were available for photos. The Clauses came around to meet each family and spread Christmas cheer. The sold-out event featured three ferry trips at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and, once at Liberty Island, families were encouraged to get their pictures taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus (and the Statue of Liberty) on the front deck before returning to Belford. As families disembarked, Santa wished everyone a Merry Christmas.
