Swimmer's Body Found Off Sandy Hook

SANDY HOOK – A body found in the water off Sandy Hook Friday early this morning has been identified as the 25-year old swimmer who went missing Wednesday night from Beach B, near the entrance to the park.

A fisherman discovered the body of Andros Vega-Pena of from Red Bank between beaches B & C, said National Park Service spokeswoman Daphne Yun.

A massive search was launched Wednesday night when Vega-Pena was first reported missing. It included units from surrounding towns, lifeguards from Sandy Hook and Sea Bright, and aviation support from Monmouth County and New York.
