EATONTOWN – While being pregnant is celebrated with showers, knitted blankets and newly painted nurseries, many families are often unprepared for the realities of coming home with a newborn.

It’s cold in the winter. Plus it gets dark early, so staying indoors like hibernating bears seems prudent.

Lisa Ventura’s Yorkie Gus, pictured right, may have been a little jumpy as a puppy but as he’s grown older it’s gotten worse. “He’s 9 and only 12 pounds but he gets very, very anxious,” said Ventura of Middletown. “He’s constantly barking and running around.” Gus’ antics disrupt visits, alarm delivery people and generally annoy everyone in the house.
