Having dined with great pleasure at Maya, the recently closed, exceptional oceanfront restaurant on the Caribbean Island of St. Bart’s, with its emphasis on fresh, simply prepared local foods, I had a feeling of déjà vu to eat at Maya, located in the Wave Hotel, Long Branch, also facing the Ocean.

It felt like a long and surreal winter, so with the coming of longer daylight hours and warmer weather, it seemed like the right time to convene a group of like-minded food and wine lovers for a long overdue get-together and dinner on the outside terrace of Hollywood Golf Club in Ocean Township.

Seafood lovers who live at the Jersey Shore are blessed with an abundance of seafood restaurants and fish markets, many featuring local fish and shellfish; and those who reside in the Two River area, even more so.
