Players and teams can register for the 12th annual Turkey Bowl football fundraiser benefiting Jason’s Dreams for Kids (JDFK), scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 26 at Thompson Middle School in Middletown. Comprised of armchair quarterbacks, weekend warriors, and those looking to revisit their glory days, the Turkey Bowl is a touch football tournament with a purpose: to raise money for children battling chronic and terminal illnesses.  The competition is organized by the Play2Win foundation, an organization that raises funds for local children’s charities through community athletic events.  Since its inception in 1999, the Turkey Bowl has raised nearly $250,000 for Jason’s Dreams for Kids, a Red Bank-based charity that makes wishes come true for seriously ill children.

Turkey Bowl is a seven-on-seven, two hand touch, bracketed football tournament. “What makes this event so special is not necessarily the football and Thanksgiving connection,” said David Green, co-founder of Play2Win.  “It’s that through football we are able to focus on what Thanksgiving means to the community at its core: giving thanks and recognition of those who are less fortunate.”
