TINTON FALLS – Redevelopment of the Commvault headquarters building on the former Fort Monmouth into a second Bell Works concept in the Two River area is nearly complete, with the mixed-use hub already 88% leased.
Inspired by Somerset Development, the parent company of Bell Works, acquired the Commvault building in early 2025 for its third Bell Works location. The 276,900-square-foot facility is located off Hope Road. Inspired is transforming it into a “metroburb” – a concept blending work, dining, retail and community space under one roof. The model mirrors the developer’s Bell Works location in Holmdel, which is now fully leased. Bell Works Holmdel was the first “metroburb” in the company’s portfolio, followed by Bell Works Chicagoland.
The Commvault building was “well-suited to the Bell Works model, requiring only minimal updates. Some minor construction is still underway in additional spaces,” a company spokesperson said in an email April 27.
Among the project’s most high-profile current tenants is Jersey Mike’s Subs, the Point Pleasant-born sandwich chain, which recently relocated its corporate headquarters to the Tinton Falls property. A retail location is also planned, though an opening date has not been announced.
“We are thrilled to welcome a homegrown brand of this caliber to Bell Works Fort Monmouth. It’s a strong validation of the Bell Works vision and the success of our ‘metroburb’ model,” Ralph Zucker, CEO of Inspired by Somerset Development, said in an email. “Adding Jersey Mike’s to our roster of tenants reinforces Bell Works as a vibrant, collaborative hub and a true destination for the community.”
Commvault, which built the facility in 2014, will remain a significant presence at the site, retaining approximately 75,000 square feet of office space. The cybersecurity company put the property on the market after the shift to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic left much of the building unused.
The redeveloped campus features a food hall (converted from the original cafeteria), retail spaces and a health club. Flexible and coworking office suites are available through short- and long-term leases, along with coLab, which Inspired describes as a collaborative workspace membership program. A conference center accommodating up to 250 guests – with floor-to-ceiling windows, an outdoor patio and onsite catering – is also available for corporate events, weddings and private gatherings.
The Commvault headquarters building has been a landmark in the region’s business landscape. Inspired plans to continue the legacy with a vibrant space for both businesses and the community.
During these early phases of the Bell Works Fort Monmouth development, the company has invited the community to enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and work from the open, public spaces there, available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Unlike its sister location in Holmdel, Bell Works Fort Monmouth is not dog-friendly inside, but pets are allowed on the outdoor walking path.
The Fort Monmouth project is part of Inspired’s broader development push in the area. It has undertaken mixed-use projects in Long Branch and Asbury Park in recent years. In 2023, it began construction on a three-story, 22-unit mixed-use development in downtown Long Branch on the former Inkwell Coffee House site. In 2024, Inspired began constructing an eight-story condominium development along Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park, near the Wonder Bar. Both projects are now complete and move-in ready.
