MIDDLETOWN – On Thanksgiving the township’s two public high schools come together – and then square off – for the traditional Thanksgiving Day football game. For years the game has also served as Senior Day, when seniors are recognized for their contributions to the football teams, band, cheer and dance teams. With both Middletown South and Middletown North knocked out of the NJSIAA playoffs, emotions were high at the game, the last hurrah for the students involved in their beloved Friday Night Lights.

There was also romance. At halftime, Raritan High School history teacher Gregory Casha proposed to his girlfriend, Middletown South cheerleading coach Cristina Fox, surrounded by the cheerleading squads and lots of cheers from the crowd.

Middletown South went on to win the game 21-7. Pamela Rogers, school board president, presented them with the coveted Middletown Cup.
