The Fine Arts Department of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School will hold its first all-media art show at the Oceanic Free Library in Rumson for the month of January. The art teachers worked with Theresa Caracappa, organizer of the Gallery at the Library to be included in the neighborhood institution’s tradition of displaying and selling artworks. The library’s gallery operates inside the library utilizing the beautiful interior to showcase work each month – jewelry, quilts, fiber arts, and paintings as well as sculptures are all on cozy display.
Artworks from across the curriculum will be on exhibit; ceramics students will be showing small and large Raku pieces, as well as some smaller hand built sculptures. Students in the honors two-dimensional studio classes will be displaying conceptual pieces, drawings, paintings, and more.  Jewelry design will also be shown. All work will be for sale and a percentage of the proceeds will support the library.
Zach Wilson, one of the three art teachers at RFH remarked that, “Art shows are a great learning opportunity for students. It gives the students perspective when they see their work outside of the school building.”
“Putting your work out for the public to see and talk about creates another venue to talk about the work. Students can learn a lot about their media by talking to people outside their class about it,” said Kristen Lanfrank, RFH art instructor.
The opening reception is slated for January 8 from 12 to 2 pm at the Oceanic Library, at the intersection of Avenue of the Two Rivers and Ridge Road, Rumson. All are welcome.
