HOLMDEL – The Jersey Shore Chinese School utilized the cavernous space on the ground floor of Bell Works to present a multilayered program Sunday, Feb. 4, showcasing the talents of students and teachers.

The school holds culture and language classes for students age 4 to 99, including folk dance, martial arts, art, yoga, sports and more. Through the school’s Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning, adults age 18 and over can learn Mandarin online or in person.

Chimin Hu, treasurer of the school and emcee for the event, began the program by wishing everyone a wonderful Year of the Dragon, complete with joy, health and prosperity.

Students dressed in elaborate, brightly-colored outfits charmed the crowd with dances, yo-yo tricks and martial arts demonstrations. The event also included a lion dance to scare off evil spirits and a dragon dance to bring luck.

A private reception followed the performances.
