Robert G. Kelly Jr., 59, of Belford, passed away Jan. 27 at Riverview Medical Center after battling cancer. Robert was born March 5, 1962, in Plainfield. He was raised in Union and lived there until settling in Belford 25 years ago.

Bob worked in electrical maintenance at Benjamin Moore in Clifton for over 30 years. In his spare time Bob was an avid fisherman. He loved spending time on the water. He was a huge Jets fan and also cheered on the Yankees and Devils. Bob was a true patriot at heart and loved his country. He proudly displayed the American flag and other patriotic decorations in his yard and would be the first to tell you how much he loved “’Murica.” He also had a soft spot in his heart for his dog Kate. Bob will fondly be remembered as devoted husband and father.

Robert is survived by his wife of 33 years Helene Kelly and their daughter Brianna. He also leaves behind his mother Elizabeth O’Grady, widow of John O’Grady, of Lakewood and two brothers, Steven (Debbie) of Jackson and Phil “PJ” (Lidia) of Brick, along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives paid their respects Feb. 1 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. A service concluded the evening and a private cremation followed.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting donations to help offset medical and funeral expenses.
